Kueh Mahmur Baked On 30/09/2007This is Malay Cookies called " Kueh Makmur "The filling is penut and outside coat with icing sugar". You can get it only when Hari Raya Puasa and Chinese New Year time.
I try to make kueh makmur cause Hari Raya Puasa is coming soon, so my maid also can eat too. Every year I will make some cakes and cookies for my maid so she will feel like at home too.
Actually this cookies is quite popular and expensive when you buy from outside. If you want to find a very nice kueh makmur, there is not easy to get. I have try before when you have first bite, it really can melt into your mouth.
I tried this recipe is not very good yet. I have to continue to try other recipe to get a good kueh makmur.

Anybody heard about coffee pao???
Just got to know this bao when my colleague bought to office to let our staffs to try it. When I have a first bite, this is very yummy...and love it very much.
After eating, I decided have to try to make it. Even though can't compare with outside sell, but the taste almost the same.

Joanne, i only tried the coffee bao at 1 of the quite popular dim sum stall near my house, but i think yours must be very much tastier.
the kueh makmur is my favourite among the malay kuehs, while pineapple tarts is another. I ever made before but that was many years ago le, maybe can try making again hor!

Joanne, the kueh makmur is oso my favourite,I remember that when I was young my malay neighbour will give some to us when Hari Raya and I even when over to her house and see how the bake this cookies.I think must ask auntie irene to teach us how to make them.

.I got to know this kueh makmur when my friend offer me to try.When I try I love it very much. So I awalys go to book shop look for good recipe.Lucky, aunt Irene called me and would like to teach me. I am very happy and hope I can fly to her house and learn it. Crazy huh!

You really never heard this cookies before,now you can go to Geylang Serai and check, there are a lot Malay stall sell Hari Raya kueh-kueh. I think you will like it very much if you can find a nice one.

I've eaten kueh makmur and coffee pau before. Near my office there's a Indonesian restaurant sells very nice & very expensive kueh makmur using cashew nuts, it's really very nice, just melt in the mouth.
Your coffee bau looks great & you've also said they taste great too. U mean the filling also have coffee flavour or just the bao? Recently I saw TV introducing some popular places selling these coffee bao but can't remember exactly where liao.
P.s. Joanne, can u remove the word vertifcation? very troublesome leh, sometimes have to type a few times to get it through...

coffee filling is coffee paste.Just like make mooncakel otus paste.The bao's skin is I add in 3 in 1 coffee mix.When you bite it you can smell of coffee taste.
